Joshua's Home Improvements

Joshua has been hard at work around here. I wish that I could say that I am a big help too, but school and work have kept me quite busy this semester. In the meantime, he has been working on project after project. It is exciting to see the changes. Here are a few of the changes!

He planted a garden. And, we have a new dwarf lime tree.

He worked with an electrician to get some of our outlets updated.

He installed a garbage disposal.

He installed a dishwasher.

He installed a new thermostat.

He removed a dying gardenia bush and the bars from a a few windows - making it less like a prison and more like a home!

He made it so that our dryer vents the hot air into the garage.

He has been so busy. I feel so fortunate to have a husband who is so dedicated to making our home better. The dishwasher and garbage disposal have made my life about a million times easier. I had definitely gotten used to washing dishes by hand, but what I didn't realize is that I spent a lot of time and energy dreading doing the dishes. I immediately felt the burden lift from my shoulders.

Thanksgiving 2012

Another Thanksgiving has come and gone. It was extra special for Mr. Halo since it was his first big winter holiday in our home. He was very interested in the goings-on in the kitchen and gladly tried some turkey as well as an accidentally dropped ginger cookie. He snapped it right up. We spent time with family and friends who are near and dear to our hearts. We stretched the holiday out into two full days of food and fun! We spent Thanksgiving day at the Ranch and then made our own meal at our house for the day after. Here are a few photos...

I must admit, there were a few unplanned scenarios that presented themselves in cooking my own meal. For example, I forgot to remove the plastic topper from the bottom of the disposable aluminum pan. Oopsie. Who knew that melted plastic smelled that bad? Not me, but I do now!

Thankfully, the turkey was safely tucked inside of a bag and was still delicious. It was by far the tastiest bird that I've made to date. I highly suggest brining. It does make a difference.

We worked off our turkey with some rowdy yard games and then went back for pie and cookies. Yay Thanksgiving!
